Our Purpose and Mission
Who We Are
Founded by pediatric therapists across multiple disciplines—including Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy (OT), Counseling, and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)—The Shining Star Project was created in response to a clear need. Recognizing the limited resources in our area and the growing demand for opportunities for individuals with special needs, our team came together to build something more.
The Shining Star Project, Inc is a 501(c)3 charitable organization whose mission is to enhance the quality of life for children with special needs in Northeast Georgia by delivering comprehensive support, fostering community inclusion, and ensuring equitable access to therapeutic, educational, and recreational opportunities within their local community.

Our projects aim to provide vital services and programs that cater to the diverse needs of children with special needs, ensuring they receive the support and resources necessary to thrive.
Adaptive Sports
Through our free adaptive sports programs, we give children with special needs the chance to experience the joy of teamwork, movement, and achievement. Whether on the basketball court, the baseball field, or at a game of cornhole, every participant is supported, included, and celebrated. As we grow, we’re excited to bring even more sports and opportunities to our community.
COMING SOON
The Shining Star Academy
a private K–5 special needs school that combines individualized education with integrated therapeutic support to help every child reach their fullest potential. Through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach, we build strong academic, communication, functional life, and daily living skills while fostering independence and lifelong success. We are committed to creating meaningful opportunities for inclusive community engagement and empowering families as valued partners in every child's education and care.
